What is GEO?
GEO isn’t the opposite of SEO, and it isn’t SEO’s replacement either. It’s what comes after it.
SEO is something you built yourself. You picked the keywords, you optimized the page, you climbed a ranking you controlled. It answers the question: does this page match this search term.
GEO answers a completely different question: does AI trust this business enough to recommend it, when a real person asks in their own words, with no keyword typed at all.
SEO earned a position on a page. GEO earns the reason someone gets given.
Three filters search never ran.
Relevance
AI isn’t matching your page against a term you chose. It’s judging whether what you actually offer fits what someone genuinely needs, phrased however they naturally phrase it.
Trust
AI checks whether a business is verifiable through independent sources, not just how convincingly it describes itself. A confident self-description isn’t enough anymore. Something else on the web has to back it up.
Reasoning
A traditional result hands someone a list and lets them figure out the reasoning themselves. An AI answer does that reasoning for them. Not just “here’s a business,” but “here’s why this one fits.”
SEO earned a position on a page.
GEO earns the reason someone gets given.
What AI sees when it looks at you.
AI cannot recommend what it cannot identify. We define your brand in machine-readable form through schema markup and a mini ontology connecting your company, products, ingredients and use cases. We also remove technical barriers to retrieval: CDN and robots.txt blocks, crawler restrictions, unclear pricing and fragmented information. llms.txt maps what matters. pricing.md gives agents a direct source for pricing. This is the AAO layer. If AI cannot parse who you are and what you sell, nothing else matters.
Your website can make the claim. AI needs independent evidence. We build consensus through backlinks, citations, digital PR, press releases, local PR, local marketing and UGC video. For AI, the mention itself matters more than the link attribute. When independent sources repeatedly describe your brand, products and expertise consistently, your claims become corroborated knowledge rather than self-promotion. This is the primary engine behind long-term AI mentions.
AI can only use what it can retrieve and parse. We structure important information as clear, self-contained, machine-readable statements inside the content itself. “Sodium bicarbonate neutralizes odor” is retrievable. “Advanced natural formula” is not. Important facts cannot be buried in images, sliders or JavaScript. Every important claim should be findable, understandable and attributable.
People ask AI about problems, not usually product names. We map your products and expertise to the questions that lead to them. If your deodorant is baking soda based, “Why does my deodorant turn my shirts yellow?” can become a relevant query to own. Answer the question with the actual mechanism and solution, and your product becomes relevant to that answer.
The first three pillars make you credible. This one makes you relevant when the question is asked.

What GEO Is
What is GEO? +
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization: getting your brand recommended inside AI answers instead of just ranking on page one. It covers making your business legible to AI, building independent evidence that confirms what you say, structuring content so models can extract it, and mapping your product to the questions people actually ask.
How is GEO different from SEO? +
SEO gets you ranked on a list of links. GEO gets you named inside the answer itself. But the bigger difference is what AI can explain that Google never could. Rank tells a customer where you sit. GEO tells AI why a customer should buy from you, what the product does, who it is for, and why it beats the alternative. Reasoning, not position.
If I’m already doing SEO, do I still need GEO? +
Yes, because the overlap is smaller than it looks. Good SEO helps, clean structure, real backlinks, but AI weighs things Google mostly ignores: how consistently third parties describe you, how extractable your claims are, whether your facts sit in plain text. Plenty of page-one sites are invisible to AI. Plenty of small sites get mentioned.
Which AI platforms does GEO work on? +
The work targets ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google’s AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, and Copilot. You don’t optimize separately for each one: they draw on overlapping training data and retrieval sources, so the fundamentals carry across. What changes per platform is where you show up first and how you measure.
How do AI models decide which brands to recommend? +
Consensus and clarity. The model looks for entities it can confidently describe, checks what multiple independent sources say about them, and assembles the answer from there. Clearly defined, independently confirmed, stated in retrievable form, and you’re a candidate. Missing any of those, you’re a gamble the model won’t take.
What is an entity, and why does AI care about mine? +
An entity is your business as a machine understands it: name, category, products, ingredients, location, and how each connects to the others. AI does not read your site like a human. It resolves you against what it already knows. Miss an attribute, and AI confuses you with someone else, or skips you entirely.
Whether You Need It
Why do I need GEO if AI already recommends my product? +
Because right now it’s luck, and luck doesn’t survive the next model update. Something made AI mention you, probably by accident. GEO finds what’s already working, fixes what isn’t, and makes the mention repeatable across questions you haven’t thought of yet. The alternative is hoping you stay recommendable by chance.
My customers don’t ask AI for advice. Do I still need this? +
They will, and it’s already started. People rarely ask AI for a brand name. They ask the problem behind the purchase. Whoever holds the answer to that problem gets recommended in the exact moment the need appears. You’re not optimizing for today’s behavior, you’re positioning for the pipeline that’s already forming around you.
Isn’t GEO just SEO agencies rebranding? +
For some agencies, yes, and they’ll sell you a keyword audit and call it GEO. The difference is testable. Real GEO work starts with entity clarity and independent consensus, signals most SEO shops never touch because Google barely counted them. If someone pitches GEO and it sounds exactly like your last SEO retainer, it is exactly your last SEO retainer.
Is it too early to invest in GEO? +
It’s early, which is the argument for starting. Core signals like entity clarity will remain. Position will not. Your GBP goes stale, your site stops updating, a competitor overtakes you, new models launch, algorithms shift, black-hat players try to drown you out. Rankings decay. Consensus compounds. Early is cheaper than late.
Is this just prompt stuffing or tricking the AI? +
No, and that approach actively backfires. Models are trained on consensus across sources, so stuffing your own site with claims changes almost nothing. What moves the needle is independent confirmation: other people saying what you say. There’s no trick in the stack. It’s clarity plus evidence plus retrievability, a disciplined way of being easy to understand and hard to dispute.
How It Works
How do you actually get a brand mentioned by AI? +
Four layers. Entity clarity so machines know exactly what you are. Consensus so independent sources confirm it. Retrievability so content sits in plain, extractable text. Query mapping so you appear on the questions people ask before they know a brand name. Every mention traces back to at least one layer. Miss one, and the other three leak.
Why do backlinks matter if AI never clicks them? +
Because AI reads the text around them. A model weighing your claims isn’t following hyperlinks, it’s absorbing what independent sources say about you. The citation matters more than the link attribute: a nofollow mention in a trade publication or a local news piece still counts, because the words are the evidence, not the click. Backlinks for AI are really about being written about, accurately, by others.
Why does AI sometimes get facts about my brand wrong? +
Because the model is averaging its sources, and your sources conflict or don’t exist. If your site is vague, third parties disagree, and no authoritative consensus has formed, the model fills the gap with its best guess, pulled from forums, old coverage, or your competitors. Wrong facts about you are almost always a symptom: not enough clean, consistent, quotable information in the wild.
Can you fix incorrect information AI gives about us? +
Yes, but not by asking AI nicely. There’s no support ticket for a hallucination. You fix it the way it formed, by changing the source pool. Clean up the entity definition, generate consistent third-party coverage, get the correct facts stated in plain retrievable text in enough places that the model’s consensus shifts. It’s slow, then sudden.
Do I need to rebuild my website? +
Almost never. Most sites have the content and bury it: facts inside images, answers trapped in JavaScript, pricing locked behind a form. The work is archaeology more than construction. Restructure what’s there, mark it up properly, make it reachable, add llms.txt and pricing.md. If the rebuild question is really about branding, that’s a different conversation, and sometimes it’s the right one.
How often do AI answers change? +
More than search rankings, and with no notice. Answers shift as models retrain, as retrieval sources update, and as the consensus around your category moves. A brand comfortably recommended in March can quietly drop out by September if its evidence stops compounding. That’s why GEO is a program, not a project. You’re maintaining a position, not mounting a trophy.
Money & Results
How long until we see results? +
Technical fixes land in weeks: crawlers unblocked, entity schema live, copy rewritten for extraction. Consensus, which drives actual mentions, takes months of PR and coverage. Anyone promising AI recommendations in two weeks is selling the technical layer and calling it the whole thing. Meaningful share shift is measured against your baseline, reported quarterly.
How do you track AI mentions? +
We run your priority questions across the major platforms on a fixed cadence, log who gets named, and track movement over time. The question is the unit of measurement, not brand awareness. Coverage share, competitor presence, and description accuracy get reported together, because a mention that misrepresents you is its own problem.
Can you guarantee AI will recommend us? +
No, and anyone who says yes is lying to you. Models are consensus machines and we don’t control them, so guarantees in this category work as a scam filter. What we commit to: the work is the known lever stack, the measurement is honest, and when something isn’t moving we tell you instead of hiding it behind a vanity dashboard.
How much does GEO cost? +
It depends on how contested your category is. The technical foundation and entity cleanup is one scope, ongoing PR and consensus building is another, and defending a contested answer set is a third. We price after an audit, because pricing before diagnosis is guesswork. As a frame, it typically sits between a serious SEO retainer and a PR retainer, because it’s genuinely both.
Does GEO work for small or local businesses? +
Yes, and local is an edge in your favor. Local AI questions run on local consensus: local press, directories, reviews, community mentions. That’s cheaper to build than national PR, and most small competitors have none of it. A small business with clean entity data and real local coverage can own its area’s AI answers outright.
Does GEO work for B2B? +
Yes, with a longer fuse and a bigger payoff. The questions shift to research stage: what to look for in a vendor, how X compares to Y, who does X for your industry. Buyers ask AI earlier in the pipeline than they’ll admit to your sales team, so being present there means entering conversations already shortlisted. B2B consensus is slower to build and far stickier once it exists.
Working Together
How is your service structured? +
Four modules: GEO Optimization, Local SEO, Website Restructure, and Digital PR. You do not buy them separately. Every engagement starts with a diagnostic audit that determines which modules activate first and in what order.
Do you work with businesses outside Malaysia? +
We are Malaysia-focused, specializing in cross-border GEO. A Singaporean asking ChatGPT about pico laser in Johor Bahru, or asking from Singapore where to do it across the border, is exactly the query pattern we build for. Our work is sharpest when the buyer is outside Malaysia but the business is inside it.
What happens after the initial work is done? +
The work shifts, not stops. Monitoring continues, but so does Digital PR outreach, drift and defense against misinformation, and article placement to dominate more prompt space. The goal in this phase is AI query mapping at scale and answer engineering: owning more of the questions that lead to you, not just holding the ones you already have.
How do you measure success? +
Four metrics: citation share across target queries, accuracy of AI descriptions, coverage across your relevant AI platforms, and competitive drift over time. But success is the starting line, not the finish. The later work is Reverse RAG and drift and defense. We don’t idle between wins.
How is this different from hiring a regular SEO agency? +
An SEO agency optimizes for ranked pages. We optimize for being the answer. Their metric is your position in a link list. Ours is your name inside the paragraph that replaced the link list. We will also tell you when SEO still matters, because it usually does, and the two run well side by side.
Can you work alongside our existing SEO team? +
Yes, and it usually works better that way. Your SEO team owns the site and the content, and we plug the GEO layer on top: entity structure, extraction-ready copy, and the consensus and PR work they typically don’t handle. We share findings, they keep the codebase. The one thing we’ll push back on is anything that blocks AI systems from reading your content.
Will GEO hurt our current Google rankings? +
No. The two share most of their foundations: fast accessible pages, clear structure, authoritative links, honest content. GEO adds layers Google doesn’t penalize, because schema, plain-text facts, and third-party coverage help search too. The only real conflict is an SEO tactic that hides content from machines, pricing buried in JavaScript, crawlers blocked over bandwidth. Fixing that helps both sides.
If we stop working together, do the mentions disappear? +
No, and that’s structural. The consensus we built, the citations, the press, the coverage, keeps existing and keeps compounding. It’s an asset, not a subscription. What you lose is momentum: new coverage stops, tracking stops, the answer set stops being defended. Think of it like PR. The relationships outlast the retainer, but competitors who keep building while you pause will eventually close the gap.
